Whether you’re dropping in for a hearty breakfast or a leisurely dinner, Herbies’ menu is a testament to the versatility and richness of vegetarian cooking.
The breakfast selection at Herbies is a delightful start to the day, featuring standout plates like the Ranchero—a satisfying medley of poached eggs, smoky tofu, and chorizo-style elements layered over smashed potatoes and crisp onions, crowned with creamy avocado. For those craving unique comfort fare, the Gyeran Bap Korean egg and rice bowl, accented with kimchi and a crispy fried egg, offers a subtle fusion of flavours that excite the palate without overwhelming it. Simpler tastes are also well-catered for, with Eggs Your Way served on crusty sourdough, warming and familiar.
As the day progresses, the tapas menu beckons with its tempting variety of textures and spices. Crisp-fried oyster mushrooms glazed with chilli oil in their bao buns create a perfect balance of heat and umami, while the kimchi arancini, paired with gochujang mayo and pickled radish, provide a crunchy, flavour-rich bite that's hard to forget. The blistered padrón peppers and truffle & herb fries serve as excellent accompaniments or shareable starters, each bite bursting with freshness and thoughtfully layered seasoning.
For main courses, Herbies showcases inventive dishes that highlight the best of plant-based dining. The crispy mushroom burger is a standout, featuring southern-fried oyster mushrooms in a soft brioche bun, layered with smoky tofu, cheese, and fresh slaw, accompanied by skin-on fries and homemade onion rings—a textural and flavour extravaganza that customers rave about. The roasted butternut squash and kale salad is a nourishing yet indulgent choice, generously topped with toasted pumpkin seeds, feta, and candied almonds, bringing a symphony of nutty, sweet, and savoury notes to the table.

Absolutely loved it here and hope to return! The food was amazing and I'm usually quite a picky eater. We tried the Tempura broccoli, the muhammara crispy potatoes and bread dipping board. Everything we had was delicious. The server was really welcoming and polite and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I honestly wouldn't change a thing about the experience.

Had lunch here today after hearing of it for the first time, couldn’t have been happier with our meals and the service. Fantastic selection of food, incredibly well presented and even tastier than we could’ve imagined and great customer service! Will absolutely be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely delicious plant-based food and great service! Had a fantastic meal at Herbies in Exeter. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff were super attentive and efficient from start to finish. The food was fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with love. The crispy mushroom burger was out of this world, one of the best I’ve had! We also tried the curry, onion bhaji, and a couple of desserts the chocolate amaretto torte was a dream. Great coffee too! Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just love good food, Herbies is definitely worth a visit. Will be back for sure!

Fabulous. We went following a recommendation from a friend. Really nice atmosphere in there with owner Mikey very welcoming and friendly. Menu was great, service excellent, food was delicious and well presented. We had the hummus and garlic bread to start, followed by the Buddha Bowl and warm Vegetarian Salad as mains; all were really good. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back.

The food is quite good with generous portions and an interesting variety of choices, including specials. The service is provided by one person who handled all the serving and clearing, and I can’t fault her - she is lovely, but given her load, it was a bit slow. My spouse ate the soup of the day (potato leek) with garlic bread and then had the Buddha bowl leaving no room for dessert, so the next time we come, he said he’s skip the starter. I had the roasted cauliflower starter, which was quite tasty, the spanakopita (could have been hotter, IMHO) that came with Greek salad. I decided to take some of the main course home for tomorrow (thinking we’d share a dessert ). The atmosphere is OK, though a bit noisy, though I’m glad to see it so popular, and too warm. There was no ventilation, so that even though the outside air was very comfortable, inside was stuffy. But overall we enjoyed and will definitely be back during our stay here in Exeter. I forgot to take photos of the main courses. Update: we visited a second time and this time I remembered to take photos of my spouse’s main course (a beet-bean burger). I didn’t have one - just the same cauliflower as the first time, and then something not on the regular menu, but one of the specials: asparagus with a cauliflower coconut mash. It was good. But we did not come a third time before leaving Exeter, feeling we kind of exhausted the options of what we’d like.

Absolutely extraordinary dinner experience! My mom is gluten and dairy free, so this is one of the few places that could accommodate her. Our food options were unique and delicious! My mom ordered the Buddha bowl (it was huge and looked fantastic) I ordered the crispy potatoes and the sweet potato special (yes, Iike potatos). Honestly, the special was outstanding!!! We were so full my mom couldn't finish the meal and the staff came to our table to check that she'd liked it! They were so lovely, attentive and just a real pleasure. Its a pretty small place so definitely make reservations. Its a cozy atmosphere and we sat by the window looking out. I cannot rave enough about Herbies and look forward to going back soon!

We visited Herbies to try their new roast and were absolutely blown away. We started with the truffle and sesame roasted cauliflower and Muhammad’s crispy potatoes—both dishes were incredibly well thought out, beautifully presented, and packed with flavour. For the main event, the roast featured a mushroom Wellington, which was perfectly proportioned—just the right amount of pastry and a generous, flavourful filling. Everything that came with it complemented the dish perfectly. The portions were massive, and by the end, we were completely stuffed! Beyond the food, the service was friendly and professional, and the ambience was cosy and inviting. The best part? They’re pet-friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. We’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely superb - top quality food - delicious and great portions - excellent service - wide selection of dishes to suit all tastes - great value. We tried to eat here a couple of years ago but it was fully booked out, so this time we visited Exeter we booked, and we were glad we did because this place is rightly packed out with happy customers. A handful of dishes are vegetarian, not vegan, but the vegan dishes are clearly marked, and there's lots of choice. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the mushroom sauce with the nut roast deserves a special mention - wow! Can't wait to go back to Exeter just to eat here again! Update - managed to visit again, and the Buddha Bowl is excellent too!
